Rum destillery

This is a point on daddy’s bucket list focused on Gran Canaria Island.

We started the day as always with breakfast and discussed what we are going to do today. The result was awesome and Kuba and I will go to the Arehucas. It was so hurried in this case so we go there at lunchtime and did not call there about some distillery tour. So we came to the porter of the destillery and at the same time started destillery tour in English for some group. So I paid 6€ and we joined the group of seniors.

The tour started in cellars where you get information about rum, barrels, temperature, produce, and about how many liters of rum cellars contain.  One of the chambers contains the best rum in the world which is there since 1983 – it must be delicious.

Then you go through the bottle-filling process and automatic machines. The process is fascinating and Kuba and I was like kids in a wonderland because there is so much movement, so much noise, and the thing you can explore. The engineering of the process is very interesting from cleaning and washing bottles to fill to pack them into boxes and move to the stock.

After this theory part of the destillery tour starts the practical part – Rum drinking. You can choose several types of rum, a liqueur with or without milk and one of the best rum. As a driver, I did not drink so if you will go there take a taxi, bus, or someone who will drive.

The whole tour is ending in the Rum shop and of course, we bought some bottles at home.

You have the option to see a piece of Gran Canaria’s history because the oldest rum was produced in 1983
